A Closer look at our seminars
At the National Debate Forum, we offer additional lecture series that students get to pick from to individualize their summer experience. Because our camp doesn’t believe in a one-size fits all approach, this is just one more way we differentiate the curriculum to focus in on what the student wants to take away from camp.
These lectures and seminars focus on three unique areas — topic area content, skill development and developing better research habits. Take a look at some of the lectures our instructors gave in 2019.
TOPIC AREA CONTENT LECTURE
This specialty lecture was given at the NDF Intensive Session by Junior Instructor Cal Hazeldine. The lecture centered around the Belt & Road Initiative topic and how to handle the EU Financing links.
This is just one example how we push our students to #ReachForTheSummit in their topic specific research.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT LECTURE
This specialty lecture was given at the NDF Boston Session by our Director of Public Forum Jeffrey Miller. The lecture centered around how to best utilize crossfire and make the most out of those 9 minutes in the round.
RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT LECTURE
This specialty lecture was given at the NDF Boston and Intensive Sessions by one of our junior instructors - Daniel Fernandez. The lecture was a supplement to a case construction lecture we give to every student — it was designed to challenge students to add nuance to their cases and how to successfully write better arguments though research.
