Over the past ten years, NDF has consistently produced some of the nation’s most successful debaters, including the 2001 TOC, NCFL, and NFL champions.
From 2002 on, there has been at least one NDF debater in the final round of Harvard; in 2004 and 2005, both the champion and runner-up were NDF alumni. NDF students have also won Lexington for the last four consecutive years, and have placed in the top five at NFL Nationals for the last three consecutive years. In 2004, NDF alumni were also top speaker at the TOC and runner-up at NCFL Nationals; in 2007, NDF produced a TOC semifinalist, quarterfinalist, and octofinalist, as well as another runner-up in LD at NCFL Nationals.
Alumni of the 2005 and 2006 NDF accumulated approximately 40 TOC bids in the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons, respectively.
Over the past two seasons, NDF students’ accomplishments have included the following:
- 2005 Tournament of Champions: semifinalist, three quarterfinalists,octofinalist, and second speaker
- 2006 Tournament of Champions: 2006 champion, quarterfinalist, octofinalist, and second speaker
- 2007 Tournament of Champions: semifinalist, quarterfinalist, octofinalist; 5th and 7th speakers
- NCFL Nationals: 2005 quarterfinalist; 2007 runner-up
- NFL Nationals: 2005 semifinalist (4th place)
- 2006 State championships: Florida champion, Illinois champion and runner-up (close-out), Massachusetts runner-up, New York champion and runner-up, two Texas state octofinalists
- Apple Valley: 2004 champion and semifinalist
- Berkeley: 2005 runner-up and top speaker; 2006 semifinalist
- Bronx: 2006 2 semifinalists
- Bronx Round Robin: 2006 top speaker, 2005 top speaker
- CPS: 2005 runner-up
- Dulles: 2006 semifinalist
- Emory: 2006 semifinalist and top speaker
