Faculty Profiles: Mike Vigars

Mike Vigars, Director of Public Forum Debate
Mike Vigars is the Director of Debate at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, FL. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Assistant Coach at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in Albany, NY, specializing in Extemp and Student Congress. During his tenure there, CBA students qualified annually to the Tournament of Champions and the NCFL and NFL National Tournaments. His Public Forum teams have advanced to late elimination rounds at each tournament they’ve entered, including the Wake Forest Earlybird, Yale, Florida Blue Key, George Mason, Arizona State, Crestian, Emory, and Harvard. In addition to winning numerous speaker awards, Trinity Public Forum teams have also won the Crestian and qualified to the Tournament of Champions and the NCFL National Tournament. Two of Mike’s proudest forensics moments were Trinity’s defeat of the unbeaten top seed in Public Forum at Emory and the winning of the Glenbrooks Public Forum Championship. In addition to his forensics responsibilities at Trinity, Mike also teaches Economics and Advanced Placement Government and Politics.
