Faculty Profiles: Kris Wright
Kris Wright earned a B.A. in philosophy & Government at UT Austin and is there now pursuing an M.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies. For four years he coached Marcus High School and now works for Westlake High School, as well as continuing to coach one student at Marcus HS. His students have finaled 5 TOC tournaments, including a close-out. They have also participated in many of the nation’s most competitive round-robins: Greenhill (x3), VBT (x2, including the 2007 champion), Bronx (x2), and Stanford (2007 runner-up). Kris’ students have debated in out-rounds of the TOC–the most recent being a 2007 quarterfinalist–and NFL nationals, including an 11th place finish. He has previously taught LD at UTNIF, Mean Green, and the Championship Group.
